There are no shortcuts taken in our effort to bring you memorable, affordable, and quality wedding ceremony accessories and decorations. With so many options, your perfect wedding ceremony accessory is just a click away.
Making your day even more special couldn’t be easier. Wedding ceremony accessories, including our sand ceremony accessories, add elegance and class with minimal effort. Affordable, but with a look that’s anything but cheap, wedding ceremony accessories help to create focal points and accents for your broader theme or concept. Items like our sand ceremony accessories can be even more significant, as they can play a role in how your wedding is experienced and shared with your family and friends.
Consider the symbolic nature of using our sand ceremony accessories to reflect your union – for couples or specific family members. While there is a range of different vases to do this, our unity candles are also popular wedding ceremony accessories. Even better, these options are relatively cheap. Wedding ceremony accessories such as this are given far more value because of what they stand for, which also makes them a great keepsake when all is said and done.
A memorial vase is also a meaningful wedding ceremony accessory you may want to consider. Use it to remember those special people in your life that are no longer with us. With a personal engraving of a name, message, or your wedding date, these wedding ceremony accessories are a small way to show your love and respect for that important person.
Think of wedding ceremony accessories as not just a form of decoration, but as a way to enhance the experience of your wedding. Whether expensive or cheap, wedding ceremony accessories are about purpose more than anything else. Few items make this as evident as our sand ceremony accessories, which on their own make for an incredible and inspired wedding ceremony accessory.
Allow Weddingstar to help you achieve your dream wedding ceremony. Accessories like ours are made to exceed expectations. Have fun making your concept a reality.

Bridal Beauty: Perfect Skin and Lip Tips

Even if you're headed for a makeup artist's chair, these pro tips will make your face look fab in person...and in your album.

You're the best judge of what looks good on you, but camera-ready, long-lasting skin and lips are a little different from the everyday variety, and these secrets will help you keep your just-done-up look all day. And even though it may seem like a lot of makeup, especially if you usually go au naturel, these tricks will leave you looking like you, only better. Adding at least one step to each part of your makeup routine should give you the definition and finish you need to look amazing all day long and in pictures.

Your Skin

The key to gorgeous skin on your wedding day is to build a solid foundation (pun intended).
Skin Tip 1: Plan Ahead
If you've been caring for your skin, you won't have to work as hard on W-Day to get that natural glow. In the weeks prior, pay attention to your face (neck, chest, and shoulders, too): Moisturize, use sunscreen, and get a relaxing facial (schedule it to allow several days for any redness to fade). If you've got problem skin (a.k.a. pimples), treat it with tried-and-true over-the-counter zit-busting products or see a dermatologist to ask about remedies.
Skin Tip 2: Avoid Surprises
Now is not the time to try something new. Whether it's a blemish cream or a new foundation, you could have an unexpected reaction. So even if you're the impulsive Vegas-wedding type, try to pick up your products at least a week before the day. And don't just leave them in their pretty packages -- patch test them to check for allergic reactions.
Skin Tip 3: Start Fresh
After you've cleansed your face, apply a primer. (Skip moisturizer unless your skin is extremely dry.) Don't be alarmed -- the newest primers are light, not spacklelike, and they contain soothing ingredients such as aloe. Primer will create a base that allows foundation to go on smoothly and to last, avoiding rough, dry patches.
Skin Tip 4: Watch out
Be sure to be gentle around the eyes. Start with a light layer of moisturizing eye cream to smooth the way for cover-up. And skip any eye creams with depuffing or anti-aging ingredients. Just remember: You merely want to moisturize to allow concealer and foundation to go on smoothly and stay out of those fine lines.
Skin Tip 5: Hide the Evidence
After primer, apply concealer. Pick one that's not too dry (to avoid flaking) and apply it in the creases around your nose, on your "moustache" area, around lips, and on the center of your chin. If you have spots, discoloration, or blemishes, dab a thin layer there too. The more you spot-cover, the less foundation you'll need, giving you a more natural look. Dab or brush on concealer and then tap it into the skin with your fingertips. (Avoid concealers with blemish-fighting ingredients or use them only on spots -- they could irritate sensitive skin.)
Don't forget the inside bridge of your nose near the corner of your eye when applying concealer. Start there and tap under your eye, stopping at about the outer edge of your iris to avoid emphasizing outer-eye crinkles. Press concealer gently into the skin with your fingers to make it stick and avoid pulling or stretching skin.
Skin Tip 6: Cover Up
Next, apply foundation on your entire face, blending with your fingers or a sponge. As with concealer, press gently with your fingers to set the product into your skin. If using a sponge applicator, take the clean side of the sponge after application and buff your entire face to eliminate any stray lines, streaks, or blobs. Blend gently to your jawline and just below to avoid staining the neckline of your gown.
Skin Tip 7: Get Set
Apply a translucent powder to set makeup and absorb shine. Stash a compact in the bag you'll carry during the reception, but steer clear of messy loose powders. Find a pressed powder you love prewedding.
Skin Tip 8: Do Damage Control
Appoint one of your bridesmaids or close friends to be your makeup monitor. Ask her to tip you off if your glow is turning into a meltdown so you can dash off for a quick fix. In addition to a powder compact, blotting papers can pick up excess oil or perspiration without smudging makeup, so tuck those into your purse or—our fave trick—your bouquet wrap.

Your Lips

Your lips will get a workout (everyone wants to kiss the bride), so start with a lipstick that's meant to last, but carry gloss or a topcoat in your purse for touch-ups.
Lip Tip 1: Get in Line
First, line lips with a neutral pencil that matches your lip color to give definition and help hold color in place. Blend lightly with your fingertip. You should not be able to see the line.
Lip Tip 2: Cover with Care
Next, apply a layer of lipstick all over lips and blot with some tissue. Then go back for a second layer. When picking a lipstick, stick with your usual color preferences. But remember, you aren't often in a dress this fancy, so it's okay to dial up the drama with a deeper hue. If you're the natural type, try a neutral brown-pink; if you love glamour, go with a mulberry or true red.
Lip Tip 3: Shine On
Top lip color with a dab of clear gloss. Go easy on the shine as too much will look drippy in photos. And, when the guests start dinging on the crystal, you'll be ready.

Wedding Registry: 5 Registry Items to Splurge On

When choosing goods for your newlywed nest, everyday plates, stainless flatware, and small appliances are shoo-ins, but don't pass high-ticket items by because you think no one will buy them (guests can go in on gifts together), or that you'll never use them (think to the future). This is the time to upgrade the everyday versions of what you have, and also to get all the indulgences you need for special occasions (hosting Thanksgiving dinner four years from now.) So get that scanner ready for these five super-fine splurges:

Make a Sterling Choice

In our parents' time, sterling silver flatware was a fixed item on most wedding registries, and complete sets were passed down from one generation to the next. These days, couples tend to skip over sterling in favor of stainless, liking its lower price tag. But stainless will never hold the value, beauty, and heirloom quality of real silver. And it wears so well -- the more you use silver, the better it looks and the shinier the patina grows. Although it has to be hand-washed, the extra elbow grease is worth it for beautiful silver.

tip Work your china into your everyday dinners, as this top-quality tableware is meant for regular use.

Fine Dining

A lot of people shy away from fine dinnerware, thinking that usage once or twice a year doesn't make this fragile purchase worth it. But the truth is that porcelain and bone china are actually tougher and more durable than common stoneware. So don't save china for special occasions only, instead work it into your everyday dinners, as this top-quality tableware is meant for regular use.

Slice and Dice

High-quality knives are probably the single best investment you can make in your kitchen. Allowing you to prep meals faster, more easily, and more safely, you will immediately notice the impact of a quality knife on your cooking. Don't worry about getting the whole 23-knife set (although definitely do if you'll put them to good use). Instead invest in three basic types -- a chef's knife, a paring knife, and a serrated knife. When you register, pick each knife up at the store, checking for comfort, weight (should be on the hefty side), and balance (shouldn't feel like it's toppling out of your hand). You can't go wrong with brands such as Wüsthof, J.A. Henckels, and Shun.

Stove-toppers

You need more from a stockpot than the ability to boil water -- after all, there's a reason half the food gets burned when you use your cheap college cookware: Inexpensive pots and pans won't heat evenly or properly. Upgrade to stainless (corrode-resistant) pots and pans with aluminum or copper cores (great for heat conduction), any other copper combination, anodized aluminum, and cast iron.

Perk Up

Stop relying on your neighborhood barista to get your caffeine fix. Instead, use your registry to treat yourselves to the sophistication of espresso at home, sipped from the comfort of your own kitchen table. Sleek espresso machines often come with a hefty price tag, so put one on the registry and look forward to brunches and after-dinner noshes full of fun cappuccinos, espressos, and happily caffeinated guests.

Engagement Rings: Ring Metal Glossary

Know your platinum from your palladium? Find the right fit for you with this ring metals rundown.

Platinum

A rare, natural white metal known for its strength and purity -- platinum is usually 95-percent pure.
Why you'll love it: Platinum's density makes it extremely durable, meaning it will keep your diamond or other gemstone protected and secure. It's also naturally hypoallergenic so it won't irritate sensitive skin. When platinum scratches (all metals do), there is very little metal lost, so your ring will withstand years of wear. Also, since it's a pure-white metal, it won't cast any tint onto your center stone.

Yellow Gold/White Gold

This naturally yellow metal gets combined with different metal alloys for added strength -- it is usually 70- to 75-percent pure. The result is jewelry available in a rainbow of colors, including white, green, and pink (see below). Yellow gold is turned into white gold when the surface is plated with rhodium, however, so the coating may eventually wear away and return to its original color.
Why you'll love it: It's also more widely available and therefore less expensive than some other metal options, and the various added alloys mean you can personalize your hue.

Rose Gold

This pink-tinted metal is gold with an added copper alloy. The more copper alloy in the metal, the deeper the rosy tones will be.
Why you'll love it: One of rose gold's especially attractive aspects is its underlying meaning. While white gold represents friendship and yellow gold means fidelity, rose gold represents love. Plus, it's durable and has a look that's pleasing against many skin tones.

Palladium

A lustrous silver-white metal, this natural ore is also used as an alloy in white gold.
Why you'll love it: Similar to platinum, palladium won't tarnish, is very flexible, and is hypoallergenic, but palladium's lower density makes it less costly. It also has a darker, grayer tone than platinum.

Titanium

This sturdy metal has a cool, gray finish or can be a polished black.
Why you'll love it: The tough name and rugged style of this metal makes it particularly ideal for men's bands. Corrosion-resistant and hypoallergenic, titanium is as strong as steel but as weightless as aluminum, making it perfect for men who don't normally wear any jewelry.

Recycled Metals

Recycled metal comes from many sources, like platinum and gold, and takes on the color and traits of its dominant metal.
Why you'll love it: It's always in style to consider the environment. Combine recycled metal with conflict-free diamonds and other gems for a completely eco-friendly and custom look. Bonus: It's your something old and something new all rolled into one.

2. How long do I need to order a bridesmaid dress?  The minimum delivery is 8 weeks to 12 weeks. Although some manufacturers offer rush express service, a premium would have to be added to the regular selling price.

3. What size ranges do you carry?  In our bridal gown department we carry from size 8 to size 20 in stock. Some styles are available for ordering up to size 44.

4. What is your price range on wedding gowns?
Our price range is from $700.00 to $4,500.00

5. What is your price range for bridesmaids?  Our price range is from $200.00 to $600.00

6. Do your bridesmaid's dresses come in different colours?   Yes, the majority of bridesmaid manufacturers offer up to a dozen colours.

7. Do you custom make wedding gowns?
Yes, we can custom make the wedding gown of your dreams. Please bring in a picture or give us some ideas of details so that we can create your design.

8. Is it possible to make any changes to gowns on your website or stock?
Yes we do style changes for customers on premises since most manufacturers don't allow for any changes.
9. Do you provide alterations?   Our in store alteration department can custom fit any of the merchandise we sell. Charges are based on the work that needs to be completed.

10. Do I need an appointment?   We prefer an appointment so that we can provide a more personal service experience, as well as directing you to which times would be better. Occasionally we may run behind during busy times, but we will try and make your wait as short as possible.
11. Am I allowed to take pictures of gowns while I try them on?   Amanda-Lina's does not allow you to take pictures unless you
purchase the gown. After you purchase the gown, you can take as many pictures as you like.

12. Can my mother or mother-in-law find a dress at Amanda-Lina's too?   Amanda-Lina's has the largest selection of special order evening wear gowns to choose from. The prices begin at $600.00 and up . No appointment is required.

13. Do I have to pay for my gown in full at the time of purchase ?  Amanda-Lina's requires a 50% deposit to process a special order gown. The remaining balance is due within 30 days of us notifying you that your gown is in or at your first fitting whichever comes first. The purchase of a gown from stock MUST be paid in full. Sample gowns are final sale and must be taken home the same day and brought back for alterations.

14. There are so many dresses to choose from, where do I begin and what should I bring to my first bridal appointment?
You can learn valuable lessons about how to find your personal style and get the dress you've always dreamed of by browsing through bridal magazines or on the Internet for silhouettes and styles that you like. Feel free to bring any pictures along with you to help guide your consultant. Once you come in for your bridal appointment, you can leave it up to the professionally trained bridal experts to help find the best gown for you.

15. When should I begin dress shopping?  It is best to start looking for gowns 6 to 9 months prior to your wedding date. The majority of our brides begin shopping 1 year ahead. That allows you enough time to narrow down your selection and order the gown of your dreams. Don't let the time bracket worry you because even if you do not have that much time there are a few different ways that Amanda-Lina's can accommodate you. We have gowns off the rack, and some designers that can fill a rush order for you.

16. When should I order my headpiece and veil?  Headpieces and special order veils should be ordered at least 3 to 4 months before your wedding date. We do not recommend waiting for your fitting to order headpieces. You need to make a separate appointment to view our headpiece department. If you bought your dress here, you can try on the sample while trying on headpieces as long as we did not sell the sample and we still have your dress in the store.

17. What information should a bride be prepared to share with a consultant when shopping for a gown?  Location of wedding, theme of wedding, vision for her wedding, gown budget, color and fabric preferences. Bring photos of gowns you like from magazines, websites etc.

Amanda-Lina's Sposa Boutique

Since 1995, Amandalina's Bridal Boutique has been fortunate enough to build a loyal following by offering a wide selection of exclusive bridal products in an old world atmosphere second to none.

Maggie Sottero Sizing chart

Please be aware that in the process if manufacturing a READY MADE wedding gown there will be always be some minor irregularities in the hemlines.
This is due to the nature of the fabrics, style of gown and handwork involved. We suggest where possible that our "Standard" length is ordered so that there is more room for accurate leveling on the individual bride, which takes into account her personal figure type, her choice of petticoat and her preferredshoe height.
When ordering the "Petite" Length the bride needs to be informed of the possible need of wearing a certain shoe height wearing a smaller or fuller petticoat, and any natural hem irregularities. In certain cases where the style has a hem feature such as a border lace, embroidery or embellishments, the "Petite" length would be ideal to order because the full designs will be maintained.

Prom Season!

 Prom Beauty 101

There are some simple rules that you will need to follow in order to see your prom night fly by without a hitch. Simply speaking, by learning from other girl’s mistakes, you can make an incredible impression, along with some wonderful memories, on prom night. No bad hair day, no make-up mess-up’s, and certainly no wardrobe malfunctions. Not tonight. Not prom night.
When it comes to trying new things there is an underlying rule for charting new territory in a fashion sense. You can get a ‘cutesy’, gentle make-over, or try a new eau de toilette, and be within the reasonable limit of change. But going too far past this you are risking the element of terror and surprise involved with sudden changes. Never try anything that is too outlandish within one week of your prom. This is to help save-face and keep you from avoiding the prom because of an unexpected screw-up. To be safe you should avoid new colors of hair-dye, new hair removal lotions or facial waxing, no dramatic haircuts, no untested dental whitening systems, no excessive or unprofessional eyebrow plucking or waxing, and you should also avoid all experimental foods, and gas station sushi, the night before your prom (stomach issues can also ruin your prom).
You should also keep in mind the amount of time in-between purchasing your dress and the night it is to be worn. Our weight can fluctuate, from day to day, hour to hour depending on what you’ve eaten or had to drink in the previous hours. But imagine what can happen in a few weeks or months. We can not predict our weight, unless we are monitoring it with diet and exercise, so if you have no plan in place then it would be best to wait for the purchase of your dress until a month or so before the actual event. If you actually purchase your dress six months before the prom, your eager attitude may stick you in a dress two sizes too big, or even five sizes too small. If you make this mistake, and are running out of time, then you need to contact an emergency seamstress who can alter your dress on a whim; otherwise you may have wasted your money. Dress-shopping for prom may seem a bit redundant after the second purchase. So use caution when dealing with anything associated with weight.

A Bridal Celebration

Congratulations to Today's Bride in achieving this 30-year milestone!
In today's ever-changing economic climate, to have survived 30 years is, in itself, an achievement. And then there is the dominating presence of the Internet that has changed the landscape of how we communicate.
That Today's Bride keeps getting stronger - keeps growing - and has such a strong influence on the bride's purchasing power is a result of the excellent job of your team of editors, layout and photography staff. It is always an exciting product for brides to pick up, read and get solid advice that they can rely on. And a visit to your Website is always worthwhile. We have grown together. Amandalina's and Today's Bride have been in lock step for the past 14 years as Amandalina's has succeeded in becoming one of the premiere bridal boutiques in Ontario.
It is interesting to look back and know that our achievement has been in a relatively shor t time. We opened our doors in 1995 and our gowns have been showcased in Today's Bride ever since. Of course, Amandalina's history stems back to the days when my parents started their bridal boutique, Lina's Boutique on Weston Rd. and Lawrence in 1969. So, in total, our family has been helping brides find their perfect gown for 40 years.

We can look back and recall those early days where Today's Bride was a new publication and my parents were showing gowns on its fashion pages. Our family just recently celebrated our parent's Golden Anniversary. We look forward to celebrating with your Family when you reach your next milestone: your Golden One!

About Us

Since 1995, Amandalina's Bridal Boutique has been fortunate enough to build a loyal following by offering a wide selection of exclusive bridal products in an old world atmosphere second to none. Enabling us to do something we've always dreamed of. To expand our business and in turn, merge with another bridal boutique: Lina Sposa.
Together, we have 44 combined years of unsurpassed customer satisfaction. As a result of this marriage however, we've now outgrown our retail space and need to move to a bigger, better, more convenient location at 177 Whitmore Road, Unit 7.
Over the coming months you'll see a new look for the store, longer store hours, more product selection, and unparalled designs and offerings you simply won't find anywhere else.
